Anselme is a lighthearted man who seeks to make the best of his immortality in whatever way he can. He was not always like this; the shock of his own turning, and the sudden death of one of his children led to a dark period for him, one in which he decided to take matters into his own hands, and try and cleanse the streets of ‘feral’ vampires. Reconciling with his wife and starting over in America helped him out of the depression, but the desire to protect others remained, and he has channeled this urge into police work, where he helps vampires in trouble with the law. He loves his wife and adopted children very much, and tries very hard to protect them in whatever way he can.

Thérèse Lavoisier

Thérèse is a very patient woman who is both amused and a little exasperated by her husband’s antics; she views it as her job to be the ‘serious’ one; a contrast to the lighter-hearted person she was when younger. She and Anselme complement each other very nicely, even if they disagree on certain things. She can be perceived as being a cold person, although that is not really the case once she gets close to someone; she is simply a little more polite and reserved than her husband, habits she still clings to. Although she misses her children, she tries to pour her affection onto her adopted ones whenever she can. Very intelligent and rather witty, she uses these skills to her advantage in her profession, which she quite enjoys.

Lilith is a sweet and rather naïve girl who wants to believe that the world is made up of generally good people. She has a hard time believing anyone is innately evil, and tends to get suckered into bad situations simply because she expects people’s good nature to win out in the end. She wants people to see a certain image from her, but her very nature makes it hard for anyone to see her as anything but what she truly is. She does have a bit of a temper, which mostly flares out in normal teenage temper tantrums.

Kevin Reeves

Kevin is what one would refer to as an All-American boy. He seems to extrude reliability and trustworthiness, and people can’t seem to help but fall in love with his charm. He takes pride in his leadership, in making decisions that ultimately help out others. He’s generally friendly and kind, willing to make nice with just about anyone who wants to. He respects all types of people, and hardly thinks himself above anyone else. He’s slow to anger, but he’s quick to annoyance, and he tends to voice his annoyance more often than people are led to believe.

Ophelia is a rather quiet and unassuming young girl who appears to be the sort of girl that people would want to protect from the harsh realities of the world. In truth, she’s seen and lived through most horrors, but she chooses to live in the moment rather than dwell on those situations. She tends to be happy and cheerful most of the time, but she can hold a grudge for centuries. She is still working through some trust issues, mostly with humans in general, but for the most part, she is happy with her life.

Mackenzie Jansen

Mackenzie is a fairly average girl, who has no real aspirations for her life. She is still growing accustom to this new lifestyle, and she doesn’t quite fully understand it. She strives to make herself as invisible as she can by just being that girl everyone knows. She doesn’t like to draw too much attention onto herself, but somehow manages it anyway. She mostly keeps to herself, struggling internally with personal demons, although she has been learning to open up a bit more with her family.
